What is Therapy?

Therapy is a confidential process in which you and a trained professional will work together to explore your mental health concerns, identify and resolve any emotional distress, develop healthy coping skills, and build self-awareness.

How can therapy help me?

Therapy can be useful in addressing mental health concerns including (but certainly not limited to): Stress, anxiety, depression, mood swings, work-related challenges, disrupted daily functioning, pandemic-related distress, family conflicts, relationship problems, low motivation levels and low self-confidence.

It can also be used to improve certain skills, such as effective communication, habit formation and more.

That’s not all, though. We’re all trying to figure ourselves out, and therapy can be very helpful in allowing you to get acquainted with yourself and your values. (It’s 2021 – self-awareness is the new “cool”).

Is therapy confidential?

It is. What happens in therapy stays in therapy.

How many sessions do I need?

Therapy is a gradual process and the total number of sessions required greatly varies based on your concerns, the goals of therapy and the therapeutic approach taken.

How frequently do I need to see my therapist?

This, too, depends on the nature and severity of your concern areas. Therapy sessions usually take place weekly, however, you can work with your therapist to decide what works best for you.

How long does a therapy session last?

A typical therapy session runs approximately 50 – 60 minutes long.
